It wasn't until Ms. Haslam's passing in 2003 that her children knew the extent to her collection. While selling items at a garage sale with a variety of items available, a University of Utah geology professor asked the family if there were any Native American items available for sale, to which the children replied yes, but informed the man the items were getting appraised.

The items Haslam had collected were so rare and full of Native American History, that her family donated the items to a museum. The Utah Museum paid the family $180,000 for the more than 650 items their mother had collected and stored so carefully. The Utah Museum is using the items for educational purposes.
